The International Network of Women in Solidarity was created at its first meeting, held in Trento, May 28-31, in the presence of Rita Levi Montalcini (Nobel Prize winner and senator for life), Malalai Joya (Afghan politician and activist) and Benedetta Magri of the International Labour Organization and the International Training Centre.

Non-smokers Educational Center (NVO Nepusacki Edukativni Centar - RP) is a non-governmental organization which includes non-smokers (people who dont consume tobacco or tobacco products). The goal of the organization is to help non-smokers in realizing their human rights to a life with tobacco smoke, as well as help with resolving difficult social and economic situations. NEC-RP informs, educations, includes and affirms non-smokers, as well as other citizens of Serbia-Montenegro to realize a healthy lifestyle. NEC-RP releases the Non-smokers Bulletin (Nepusacki bilten NEC), as well as the Ecologolical Bulletin (Ekoloski bilten *EKO-NEC*) for cleaner nature in Serbia.

The Civil Society Development Foundation (FDSC) is a Romanian non-governmental organization founded in Bucharest in December 1994. FDSCs mission is to increase the social impact of the Romanian NGOs by direct action and by developing their capacity through cooperation, networking, representation and services. Considering the diversity of nonprofit sector needs in Romania, FDSC assumed from the very beginning a variety of roles: grant distributor, resource center, nonprofit sector research center, and sector promoter. FDSC uses in house expertise as well as external collaborators to develop surveys on civil society.

On 7 August 2006, the ERRC sent a letter to Ardian Turku, Mayor of Elbasan, expressing concern about the forced evictions and resulting homelessness of 109 Romani individuals. The ERRC urged Mayor Turku to ensure that the urgent housing needs of these evicted families are addressed immediately.

The Multimedia Institute and CARNet announced the visit by Richard Stallman, the founder of the free software movement and the greatest fighter for freedom in information age. Stallman will visit Zagreb on Marth 8-9, 2006 and will held two lectures from the Knowledge-Based Society and Free Flow of Information series.

The project for Danube River Protection (DRP), i.e. Capacity building for implementation of projects designed to reduce release of organic and toxic substances and cross-border cooperation of the Danube countries was started in 2001, on the initiative of the Global Environment Facility and UNDP, with the aim to improve the quality of the environment in the Danube Basin.

There will be a SONEMUS concert held in Sarajevo today; Sonemus has been organizing highly visited and appraised concerts for the passed few years. In cooperation with the International Theater Festival - MESS Sarajevo, our ensemble, together with guest musicians from Switzerland, will perform one of the most significant (and one of the most influential for the future generations) masterpieces of the XXth century: Pierrot Lunaire, by Arnold Schönberg.

On the occasion of International Day of Peace (September 21), the Prime Minister of Kosovo valued the role of United Nations support and assistance as high for the establishment of peace in Kosovos postwar period. Through a press release sent out on Tuesday he called for peace, tranquility, cooperation and tolerance.

PRISTINA, September 19 (SeeNews) - The business environment of the U.N.-run Kosovo is ranking among the most friendly in Eastern Europe in a study based on the World Bank's Doing Business Index, the U.S. office in Pristina said on Monday.

According to this research, television still remains the main source of information for citizens of Kosova (84%), with a great difference against radio (8%) and print media (6%). The most preferred media in Kosova are TV21, Radio Dukagjini and Koha ditore, whereas the most trusted media still remain RTK, Radio Kosova and Koha ditore.

A well known Austrian Company "Bayer" donated two hundred and eight thousand EUR to SOS Children's Village in Prishtina, intended as assistance for abandoned children there. Representatives of this company made a promise at this ocassion that they will continue to provide support in the future, contributing to projects that help abandoned children have opportune lives.

Kosovo's president yesterday named the group which will lead the talks on the future status of Kosovo. The group will be made up by the Kosovo President, Ibrahim Rugova who will lead the process, Head of Kosovo Parliament, Nexhat Daci, Kosovo PM, Bajram Kosumi and two opposition leaders; Hashim Thaqi, Head of Kosovo Democratic Party and Veton Surroi, Head of ORA Political Party. While, Blerim Shala, editor of the daily paper Zėri has been appointed as the Coordinator of the Working Groups for the status talks.
