The Association Q, organizer of the Queer Sarajevo Festival, expressed its concern over the seriously deteriorating conditions for activist work and safe and free visits to cultural events in the city of Sarajevo, as well as its concerns over the fact that violence is imposed on the citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina as an accepted social value.

The informal group Gradjani Sarajeva (Citizens of Sarajevo) invites all citizens of Sarajevo to join them in a protest - Saturday, October 4, at 13:00 hours in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, to make up for the failed test, as they say, at the night of September 24, when hooligans and radical Wahabi Islamists attacked the Queer Sarajevo Festival.

Two of the five amendments to the Resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina, adopted last Tuesday (September 30) by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe refer to last week`s vicious attacks that led to the closing of the Sarajevo Queer Festival.

The informal group Citizens of Sarajevo will organize today, Thursday, October 2, at noon, a protest walk that will present the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo a petition with demands for resignation of all those responsible for the expansion of violence in the society and the shameful inefficiency of competent bodies and institutions.

Transparency International BiH (TI BiH) appealed to all political parties running in the local elections to present to the public reports on the manner of financing of their election campaigns, so that the citizens could make an informed decision on October 5, the ballot day.

Informal civic group Citizens of Sarajevo (Gradjani Sarajeva) demands, in a protest letter condemning the violence over these thinking differently which had its most extreme form last Wednesday, September 24, at the opening ceremony of the first Sarajevo Queer Festival, when groups of hooligans and religious radicals attacked the participants and organizers of the Festival.

After the violence during the opening ceremony of the Festival last Wednesday, caused by a group of radical Vehabi Islamists and football hooligans from Sarajevo, the open hunt of all people connected, in one way or another, to the Festival continues to this day.

The Accountability coalition of nongovernmental organizations condemns all forms of violence, hatred and intolerance directed at the first Queer Sarajevo Festival, especially the violent events of Wednesday, September 24, in front of the Academy of Fine Arts and later on the streets all over Sarajevo, in which eight people were injured.

The first Queer festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, opened last night in Sarajevo, at the Academy of Fine Arts, showed that homosexuality remains a taboo in the country and that the Festival was rightly assessed as high-risk event, secured by significant police presence, reports Sarajevo X Portal.
