On Tuesday, May 27, the Delegation of the European Commission in BiH (DEC) held the first consulting meeting with representatives of civil society on the preparation 2008 Progress Report for Bosnia and Herzegovina. A great number of CSO representatives participated in the meeting and demonstrated great interest in the preparation of the Report.

The group of civil society organizations, provoked by an article published by `Globus` weekly magazine of May 9, 2008, expressed, in an open letter to the Government of Croatia, its discontent with Government`s actions that violate the principles listed in the 2006 National Strategy for Creation of Stimulating Environment for the Development of Civil Society.

The valley of the Soča River, and the cultural and tourist festival `Picokijada` (the Festival of the Chicken) in Djurdjevac got the first excellence award for tourist destination in Slovenia and Croatia, respectively. They will represent Slovenia and Croatia in the competition with 20 other destinations for the EDEN (European Destination Excellence) Award.

According to preliminary results issued by Centre for Free Elections and Democracy CeSID, the For European Serbia Coalition won in May 11 Parliamentary Elections and will get 103 seats in the Skupština.

Representatives of the NGOs gathered in the Accountability Coalition met yesterday, May 7, 2008, with Miroslav Lajcak, High Representative and special representative of the EU in Bosnia and Herzegovina and discussed the possibilities to accelerate the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the road to European integrations.
