Balkan Civil Society Development Network is proud to present the third issue of its periodical publication Balkan Civic Practices. This edition carries the title "A Guide to European Union - Funding for NGOs". The Guide is a follow-up to the training on mobilization of resources organized in the framework of EU-funded project "Partnership in Action - Strenghtening Civil Society Development Network".

The policy study Macedonian Clothes for Europe, prepared by the Center for Research and Policy Making, offers a general analysis of the clothing sector in Macedonia. It does so by looking both at a crucial sector (clothes or apparel production) and at trends in one of Macedonia’s seven regions (Eastern Macedonia).

The EU’s present visa regime with the countries of the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, and Serbia-Montenegro including Kosovo) is fostering resentment, inhibiting progress on trade, business, education and more open civil societies, and as a result contributing negatively to regional stability, claims the latest report by the International Crisis Group.

Almost a decade after the Dayton Agreement, and almost five years after the fall of the Milosevic regime in Belgrade, the Western Balkans are a relatively stable region with no military conflicts, no ongoing ethnic cleansing, where elections are free, if not always fair. In Thessaloniki in June 2003, the European Union committed itself to integrating the countries from the region. But what does this commitment really mean?

The Council of Europe discussed the new monitoring report on Serbia and Montenegro on 11 March 2005 in the Committee of Ministers' Rapporteur Group on Democratic Stability (GR-EDS). The Report is now publicly available.

The Portal lists information on the structure of EU, its history, functioning, policies, member states, as well as info on states that are yet to become members.

On April 20, 2004, Croatia received the European Commission's Oppinion on Croatian Application for Membership in the European Union (known popularly as avis). On the behalf of the EC, Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Chris Patten recommended the Council of Ministers of the EU to start the negotiations with Croatia for full membership into the EU.

"Liberalization of Visa Regime in the Region of South Europe" is a result of the Experts Group research organized by the Citizens' Pact for the SEE, in order to examine the obstacles to its campaign for abolition of visa regimes for the Countries of the SEE, and to offer possible solutions. The Research group was mentored by Prof. Vojin Dimitrijevic, and led by Igor Bandovic, who acted as Group Coordinator.
