23.06.2008 A poll conducted by the National Roma Centre (NRC) from Kumanovo, shows that almost a half of the polled Roma women live in extramarital communities, while only one in ten Roma women owns personal ID documents and proof of citizenship, which leads to the situation in which their children are not entered in the new-born children registries.

06.03.2008 In a letter sent to the Constitutional Commission and representatives of the international civilian administration in Kosovo, Roma NGOs ask for substantial improvements of the draft constitution which has been prepared by the Constitutional Commission on the basis of the provisions included in the proposal of the UN Special Envoy Martti Ahtisaari for the Kosovo status settlements and is currently under discussion.

14.12.2007 The Vojvodina Executive Council earmarked 2.1 million Dinars in scholarships for 355 Roma secondary school students who will received 48 EUR months for the 10 months of the school year. The Council also secured honoraria for the 98 tutors selected to assist and direct the education of the scholarship recipients.

13.12.2007 According to information provided by the Roma and Ashkali Centre in Pristina Roma have started to leave Kosovo fearing an outbreak of new violence. During their field visits to the Serbian enclave of Gracanica nearby Pristina, the NGO found that at least seven families with 38 have already left.

12.12.2007 The Roma Children Centre of Serbia (DRC) reacted to the statement by the Mayor of Topola, who “rose to prominence” leading the action against the promotion of Pescanik radio show in Arandjelovac, to Blic daily (Saturday, 8.12.), that he plans to “...fence off the Roma with walls and wire“.

23.11.2007 Under the auspices of its programme for prevention and education on trafficking in human beings, Open Door-La Strada held a training programme for high school students on Prevention of Trafficking in Human Beings, November 16-18, in Skopje.

22.11.2007 The Lobby Group for Roma Education proposes a programme with defined global and priority educational needs of the Roma population. The Group, working under the auspices of the Roma 2002 Coordination of Roma NGOs, advocates advanced sustainable projects that will contribute to realization of operational action plans of the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005-2015.

20.11.2007 On initiative of SOS Phone Niksic, a meeting was held, on November 18, with representatives of Niksic General Hospital, Niksic Healthcare Centre and Pulmonary Hospital in Brezovik.

15.11.2007 The SOS Phone Nikšić organized, last Tuesday, November 13, the second meeting with representatives of local institutinos, to discuss the implementation of documents for improved status of Roma minority on local level.
