12.03.2006 Alvaro Hil Roblens the Human Rights commissioner in the Council of Europe recently in Strasburg presented a report on the Roma rights in Europe. The endangerment of this ethnical population was practically the life motive that went through in all the tones of the report. The main word was about the 10 million Roma in the member countries of the Council of Europe.

Opportunities exist for the return of RAE refugees to Kosovo
29.06.2005 The situation for displaced Roma (RAE --- Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian) populations in Kosovo is precarious as they remain in unsuitable living conditions in camps throughout Kosovo and in the Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia six years after their original displacement. While the overall situation in Kosovo is not conducive to mass return due to the continued uncertain security situation, opportunities do exist for voluntary RAE return, says the analysis by Refugees International.

08.04.2005 The International Day of the Roma, April 8, was established in 1974. That year, the conference of the Roma Union decided to adopt the song “Djelem, Djelem” as the Roma National Anthem, and the blue-green flag with a cartwheel in the centre the Roma Flag. On the eve of the International Day of the Roma, the Decade of Roma Inclusion project for integration of Roma Population, initiated by the countries of the Southeast Europe, was officially launched in Belgrade.

22.02.2005 “Poverty is the greatest problem of the Roma. Because of that, people live in conditions of insufficient hygiene. The children don’t go to school because of the lack of possibilities to maintain basic hygiene, and the lack of money to buy school equipment and textbooks”, says Supanj Semsi, President of the “Neretva” Association of Roma from Mostar.
