The Innovations in Civic Participation (ICP), a non-profit organization that supports the promotion of youth civic participation through service, announces the release of a research report examining the presence of national youth service policies in 15 countries in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

The Youth Information Agency (OIA) published its manual on development of local youth policies, “Local Governance and Youth”. The Manual aims to assist the bodies and institutions of local government to create effective youth policies and develop successful cooperation with the youth and youth organizations, in order to improve the status of youth on local level.

The manual Steps Towards Successful Local Youth Policies came out of print at the end of May 2006. The manual was prepared and written by Emina Buzinkic, Drazen Puljic and Tomislav Tomasevic, experienced trainers and members of the Board of the Croatian Youth Network.

In 2005 it will be ten years since the General Assembly adopted the World Programme of Action for Youth in 1995. With over 200 million youth living in poverty, 130 million youth illiterate, 88 million unemployed and 10 million young people living with HIV/AIDS, the case for a renewed commitment to the goals of the World Programme of Action is clear.
