15.04.2008 The much-debated and disputed open document standard Office Open XML (OOXML) has been approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The result of the voting showed 24 supporting votes by participating national standards bodies allowed to vote, known as “p-members,” versus eight opposing votes.

01.04.2008 Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) launched, on March 30, its Access to Knowledge (A2K) electronic platform which has been developed over several months to become the leading source of information on Access to Knowledge in the Arab region and the world.

04.03.2008 The first local Creative Commons Salon (Belgrade, March 7-10, 2008) will consist of series of talks about intellectual property and the politics of ownership and distribution within the context of contemporary production of \\\\\\\"content\\\\\\\", and will present current local production relevant for the topic.

08.02.2008 A new foundation was launched on January 16, aiming to stimulate a society in which technology, educational materials, and cultural and scientific works can be freely shared. The organisation receives the support from the Internet Society Netherlands, an association for internet professionals.

20.06.2007 Macedonia joins the group of over 30 countries in the world with localized Creative Commons licenses. At the event organized yesterday, June 19, 2007, at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Skopje, the Metamorphosis Foundation presented the Macedonian CC licenses. Macedonia has localized the 2.5 version of CC, and Metamorphosis hopes that soon enough it will move to the latest version of Creative Commons.

07.03.2007 The Creative Commons International approved the first draft of Serbian Creative Commons License. The draft is published on creativecommons.org/worldwide/rs in Serbian and English language.

16.11.2006 The Second International Conference e-Society.mk started yesterday, November 15, in Skopje. The conference, which will close on Friday, November 17, 2006, gathers Macedonian and international ICT experts, to facilitate exchange of experiences and create policies based on the latest information related to information society.

14.09.2006 The World Intellectual Property Rights (WIPO), the permanent UN body on copyrights and associated rights, currently discusses the Draft Broadcasting Treaty. The Treaty proposes new and serious restriction on the rights of the authors of broadcast works and free exchange of contents over the internet, especially for podcasters and podcasting organizations.

04.05.2006 The OpenDocument Format Alliance (ODF Alliance), a broad crosssection of associations, academic institutions and industry dedicated to solving the problem of improving access and retrieval of electronic government documents, today congratulated the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for its sweeping approval of the OpenDocument Format as an international standard, as well as OASIS which created and submitted the format to ISO.

28.04.2006 The Metamorphosis Foundation for Sustainable ICT Solutions signed, on April 26, 2006, a Memorandum of Understanding with Creative Commons Corporation, for legal porting of CC licenses in Macedonia.
