Mugosa Is in Conflict of Interests Situation After All
On May 9, MANS submitted a Request for review of the Decisions adopted by the Commission on Conflict of Interests in the cases involving Miomir Mugosa, the Mayor of Podgorica, and Slobodan Lekovic, the Chairperson of the Commission. MANS also requested that public debate is organized on both initiatives, on the bases of Article 24 of the Rules of Procedures of the Commission on Conflict of Interest, with obligatory presence by both Mugosa and Lekovic.
They are concerned at MANS about the fact that the prolongation of the procedures in front of the Commission has provided Mugosa with an opportunity to break the Law on Conflict of Interest. However, they expressed their satisfaction that the organization managed to force Mugosa to give up, as formally as it may be, several of his offices and functions. Having in mind that the conflict of interest is not a criminal offence in itself, MANS announced that they will demand from the State Prosecutor’s Office to determine whether Mugosa abused his office during the period in which he performed several related duties: Minister of Health and Director of the Clinical and Hospital Centre, and simultaneously holding a seat at the Board of “ICN Montenegro” Pharmaceutical Company. |
