Ambassador Davidson praised the initiative of the dozen organizers of the conference, “In-volvement of Young People in the Acceleration of European Integration Process of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” many of whom have worked in co-operation with the Mission’s many youth programmes.
“Opportunities for young people are limited by economic and social challenges, but the per-ception is that Bosnian youth don’t care and won’t do anything to change their situation,” said Ambassador Davidson.
“Each of you has already accomplished a great deal by founding or managing youth organizations and addressing the political and social challenges in your municipalities. By coming together and stating your common goals and commitments, you have begun the process of giving local action wide impact,” he said.
The conference was the culmination of a series of meeting in which youth organizations hope to stimulate a dialogue on the responsibilities, their own as well as that of their elected offi-cials, for BiH’s reform process. It is an excellent example that proves the “BiH youth don’t care” rhetoric wrong. Instead, it highlights the positive young talent that is committed to BiH’s prosperous future, and its understanding and willingness to take the lead in it.
