The Multimedia Institute is a non-profit organization from Zagreb, Croatia, active primarily in the field of new media culture; digital technology research/development/implementation; social activism and cultural management (networking, strategy preparation and advocacy).
History of MI2
From its founding until today, MI2 has gone through a transition process from open centre with cyber cafe to a righ place with an engaged community that produces a wide spectrum of activities. At the centre of MI2 activities lies a variety of cultural and technology projects with net.culture centre that is positioned on an attractive public location as a non-profit club and a presentation facility. One characteristic of MI2 refers to the great expansion of programmes and personnel over a short period of time. The future activities of MI2 cover the MAMA club as a space open to the public, the MI2 lab as a production and research space, and Think Thank as project of research, cultural strategizing, consulting and advocacy. Supervisory Board: Ivana Pavić, Petar Milat & Saša Milošević. Out of the formal operating group, the MI2 members are divided into groups of various social and information cohesion. These strategies always related to the field of activity from wich thay emerge (technical, social, artistic...). Aside from the self-generated income, from media/software production/design, tech services and books and mi2 merchandise selling, a wide external finnancial support was developted for different programs and projects.
