New UNDP Project in Mitrovica to Start Soon

UNDP Kosovo will start a new environment project in the city of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica tackling environment and multiethnic issues, UNDP office in Kosovo announced on Monday 5 of June the World Environment day.

The project to be funded by UNDP will employ 100 youth from all communities to clear the damages created by the recent floods of Ibër/Ibar river.

Taking into consideration the urgency of the issue, UNDP has decided to implement a project as soon as possible and will employ youth from the city on short term basis.

The project aims to address the unemployment issue, environment, and the reconciliation process in this sensitive municipality.

Frode Mauring , the UNDP Resident Representative said:

“We at UNDP Kosovo are very much interested to give our contribution to ease unemployment and help the process of reconciliation”.

“We know that this project will not solve all the problems but it is a step in the right direction. We hope that it will be beneficial both economically and by bringing together youth from different ethnic background, who will work for the common good”.

“It is also very important that we address the environment issue and do our best to create a cleaner, more beautiful and safer neighbourhood for all”, he added.
