Trieste-Sarajevo Bicycle 2006 Tour arrives in Sarajevo

Today, June 16, the “Trieste-Sarajevo” Bicycle Tour arrives to Sarajevo. A press conference will be organized, with some refreshments for the participants, at the Bosnia and Herzegovina Historical Museum, starting at 11:00 hours.
The main goal of the Tour was to develop a culture and practice of this form of responsible tourism that could assist the economic and social renewal of the region. Alba Piacini, the Tour Coordinator, and Valentina Pellizzer, Manageress of the oneworld platform for see are expected to address the press and the guests, as well as a number of participants in the race. About two dozen riders drove from Trieste to Sarajevo during the 12 day tour, passing though Rijeka, Senj, Plitvice, Bihac, Martin Brod, Drvar, Bosansko Grahovo, Livno, Blidinje, Mostar, Nevesinje, Kalinovic, Rakovica (in Sarajevo). No major problems of challenges were faced on the road, and all cyclists that started completed this, for some of them rather demanding and ambitious tour. In spite of the predominantly bad and rainy weather, the cyclists demonstrated high levels of enthusiasm and motivation and moved on, pushed the will to complete this cycling adventure. The “Trieste Sarajevo 2006 Tour started on June 4. This years tour is implemented under the Meeting the Other Europe – Balkans on the Road to Responsible Tourism project, implemented for several years by Italian organizations Tremembe onlus and Progetto Prijedor onlus.
