Informatization in Zenica Region Secondary Schools

In the period from June 12 through June 20, under the Inforamatization of Zenica Region Secondary Schools project implemented by the Creative Development Foundation and the Youth Information Agency (OIA), a local youth group met with the headmasters of eight secondary schools in Zenica and the teachers of information sciences in those schools.

According to Amila Jerkovic from the youth group, the headmasters supported the project and promised to include a line on “Informatizaion of school” in their respective budgets for the coming academic year, i.e. to secure more money than the past budgets held for that purpose. This was in compliance with earlier recommendations of the Ministry of Education.

The Local Youth Group also received information on the EMIS (Education Management Information System) project. The cantonal Ministry of Education claims that this project provided computers for the schools’ needs regarding information science classes. However, the main goal of the EMIS project is not to equip the information science classrooms, but to create database of students, in order to make it easier for teachers and parents to gain insight in the personal files and grades of the students.

The Local Youth Group added that all discussions were documented by the audio-video team of “Nasa djeca” organization, and the filmed footage will be used for advertising videos of the campaign. Also, a documentary film on all activities is planned.
