Youth and Sports Agency Involved in Election Campaigning!
The informal coalition of five civic associations from Bitola protested the ignorant treatment they receive from the National Agency for Youth and Sports, and condemned the direct attempt at manipulation of the youth population of Bitola within the election campaign.
Deeply insulted by the attempt of the Agency to involve them in crude political manipulation, the five organizations demand apologies from the Agency’s Director Georgi Trajcev.
Their main objection, in addition to the years of inactivity of the Agency, refers to the event of June 10 of this year. Instead of having good time at what was planned as a party to celebrate the successful completion of the huge EAR (European Agency for Reconstruction) project “Stronger Together”, the youth of Bitola saw it transformed, by the Agency of Youth and Sports, into a political parade of SDSM’s candidates in the coming elections.
Similar scenario was used by the Agency one week later, twenty days before the ballot day, at the long postponed presentation of the National Youth Strategy, which was also used as promotion tool for the SDSM candidates in the 2006 Elections.
The civic associations from Bitola, in addition to the apology they seek from Trajcev, demand from the Prime Minister Buckovski, should he has an opportunity to form the Government after the Elections, to promise in public that Georgi Trajcev will not be appointed for another term in office at the Agency.
The representatives of the coalition, which includes the Centre for Regional Development and European Integrations, Civic Association “Economic View”, Civic Association for Adherence to the Law, “Freedom and Dignity” CA, and “New Horizons” CA, also said that the civil sector in Bitola is not satisfied with the partnership and treatment they receive from the governmental institutions that have the responsibility and legal obligation to tend to the needs, interests and status of youth. They demand greater cooperation and support in the realization of strategic projects and processes in the youth sector.
