Party on PRIVATE Plateau in Front of Joint Institutions Building

The DOSTA Movement threw a party, on Friday, June 23, 2006, on the “private” plateau in front of the Building of Joint Institutions in Sarajevo, to protest the “philistine culture and lack of taste”.

Although the rain marred the start, the party proceeded as planned. As the rain gradually stopped, the 60 or so people that gathered started the fun. Music was played by RATM, Manu Chao, Asian Dub Foundation and other global activists, but also by B&H mainstays such as CCC, Frenkie, Dubioza Kolektiv, Edo Maajka, Soba 403.

The party proceeded, as announced, until 22:00 hours, with music, fun, exchange of ideas and planning of new actions. The parties on the Plateau will continue to be held each Friday. For next Friday, June 30, a live performance is planned by the nastup Capital City Crew, local Sarajevo band, with even greater audience.

The protests that DOSTA! Organized last Saturday, June 24, differed from previous ones. About a hundred people walked in a long single column, their hands tied and their moths gagged.

“Our message is that this is the typical reaction of B&H citizens – ‘they tie us with chains of hatred and criminal irresponsibility, and we just keep silent and bear with it, our hands tied to do anything”, says the Movement.

DOSTA! Activists say that every citizen in B&H can, either through this or some other initiative, untie his or her hands, only through discussion of problems and active participation in finding solution for those problems.
