Children Embassy Victim of Manipulation by Corrupt Officials
The Children Embassy for All Children in the World, headquartered in Prilep, Macedonia, accused state institutions of manipulation and violations of the Law and the rights of children in order to tend to party interests.

The Embassy warned the institutions of the Government to redirect their interest and activities to the public good and to disregard the interests of their political parties. In this particular case, the right of children to organize their leisure time freely, guaranteed by Macedonian Laws and the international treaties on children rights.
Back in 2002, the Children Embassy applied to the Ministry of Defence for allocation of office space for its activities, which are of crucial importance for the children in Macedonia, but also for the democratization of Macedonian society and its aims towards Euro-Atlantic integrations.
Although the Children Embassy received all appropriate approvals from the competent bodies and authorities, an official decision was never adopted and released. Furthermore, in spite of the several attempts to seek answer on the procedure with the competent institutions, the organization has not received any information and faced total silence by the institutions.
“Lazar Elenovski, the current Minister of Defense, promised to see us as soon as his schedule allows for it, and that is the sole positive response that we have received so far”, says Damjanco Stojanoski, the Secretary General of the Children Embassy.
He adds that, immediately after the Parliamentary Elections of July 5, the space sought by the Children Embassy for its “4th July” education centre (project implemented with support by USAID) was leased to a private business from Prilep, in completely non-transparent procedure. The date on the lease documents leads to conclusion that, in fact, this is a case of abuse of office and corruption, in order to tend to interests of their own political parties.
“Our aim is to contribute to protection of civil society in the country from violations of public interest for the benefit of bureaucratic processes and political cronies”, sayd Stojanoski.
The Children Embassy presented all the documentation related to this case to the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Public Prosecutor, demanding that the responsibility is determined for this flagrant violation of the Law and children rights.
