Start with Yourself Workshops
The Autonomous Women Centre started the Start with Yourself series of workshops for university students, on the topics of violence in the family, partnership relationships and society.
The project intends to inform the youth about the gender-based violence, under the region programme Fight against Gender-based Violence in the Western Balkans, implemented in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
The Start with Yourself project aims to contribute to establishment of efficient prevention and protection of young people from gender-based violence (in partnership unions, family and institutions).
By the end of 2006, the students in a number of faculties and dormitories will have an opportunity, through 27 peer-to-peer workshops and six debates, to learn about specific aspects of violence between partners, violence in family and gender equality, and to get motivated to participate in prevention and protection from violence.
Past surveys show that 60 percent of the young population have experienced some form of violence in their relationships.
