Survey on Citizens’ Perception of the Role of NGOs in Election Campaign in B&H

In the second half of November 2006, ALDI conducted a public opinion survey on the “Results of activities of civic movements created in the previous period, from citizens’ perspective”, in order to identify how the citizens perceive civil society activities in the process of creation of public policies.

The main conclusion of the survey was that the majority of B&H citizens believe that the non-governmental organizations posses the capacity to initiate activities to solve key local problems faced by the citizens on daily basis.

The survey was a continuation of the systemic survey conducted by ALDI in order to identify the possibilities for future development of the role of NGOs in public policy creation processes.

This segment of the survey intended to determine the citizens’ perceptions of the role of NGO in election campaigns and pre-election period, the existence of will among the citizens to cooperate with NGOs to find solutions to concrete problems, and perception of capacities of NGOs, as seen by the citizens.

The survey was conducted on a representative sample of 1,500 citizens from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, between November 15 and December 1, 2006.
