A group of young intellectuals and artists (painters, writers, musicians), athletes, former political activists and other prominent actors and enthusiasts were gathered by Mr. Mirsad Kandic, and on June 24, 2002, they established the Bosniac Association “Oaza”, a non-governmental organization with the mission to develop and promote civil society with special emphasis on improvement of Bosniac community’s integration into the new Kosovo reality.
Bosniac Association “Oaza” until now has been working in Pejë, Deçan and Istog municipalities, while it tends to further expand its territory of activity. From the very beginning, “Oaza” has become one of the most active and leading Bosniac nongovernmental organization in Pejë region, due to the solid organizational structure made up of young and creative people.
“Oaza” is the only NGO of this community that has prevented itself from being a satellite of political entities, and which has the most gender-balanced staff among all positions of the organization and among numerous volunteers.
