TV Set and an Octopus in Front of the Attorney General’s Office!

Mjaft! Movement demanded from the Attorney General to explain to the Albanian citizens who tells the truth: the Prime Minister, who accused the media of being affiliated with the mafia, or the media, who retorted by advancing the same exact accusation against the Prime Minister.

Leart Kola, a Mjaft! Movement activist, said that it is unacceptable for the Prime Minister to claim that the mafia is utilizing the media as its personal weapon. Just as unacceptable is the fact that the Attorney General’s Office, which should investigate this situation, has remained silent.

“After all, why should citizens be forced to listen to endless accusations from morning until night,” Kola stated. He urged the Attorney General’s Office, on behalf of Mjaft! Movement, “to clarify whether the Prime Minister’s accusations about the media’s affiliation with the mafia is true or whether these accusations are simply lies; if they are true, however, which media outlet is partaking in such corruption?”

It is for this reason that Mjaft! Movement symbolically placed a TV set with an octopus on top of it at the entrance to the Attorney General’s Office. The octopus’s tentacles covered the image of Berisha’s face on the TV screen. For many Albanians, the octopus and its tentacles have a strong connotation with the mafia and its complex network of cohorts.

Mjaft! requested an investigation two days ago, after the Prime Minister repeated his serious accusations against the media. Berisha claimed, during a meeting with his cabinet, that: “The media is being utilized as the mafia’s own personal weapon in order to demonize both individuals and processes.” In the meantime, the media retaliated by alleging the same accusations.
