New Environmental Association “Pelican” Established

The Pelican Association for Protection of Flora and Fauna in Prespa, is a newly established association that will direct its efforts and activities towards the initiatives for protection of the whole eco-system of the Lake of Prespa.
The chief motives for the establishment of this association are the implementation of principles of sustainable development and their focus on the Local Agenda 21. ”Pelican” will put emphasis on activities towards sustainable rural development through promotion of biological and cultural diversity as leading elements for economic development of this area. In 2007, “Pelican” will direct its activities in the areas of waste management; protection of flora and fauna in and around the lake; tree-planting; use of chemicals; protection of rivers from pollution; education and cooperation with schools in the area. |
