No to NATO Terrorists in Zadar!

The city of Zadar, under the auspices of cooperation within NATOs Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and Croatian National Bureau for Protection and Rescue, hosted the \'IDASSA 007\', May 21-24. Under the auspices of the project, a variety of catastrophic events and disasters were simulated, such as earthquakes, fires and terrorist attacks.

A group of activists, gathered in the Peace Initiative Zadar Committee, decided to oppose this one-sided spectacle. On the first day of the exercise, May 21, several anti-NATO posters were placated on a number of locations in downtown Zadar, attracting great public and media attention.

This project, believes the Initaitive, is presented as civil rescue and protection activity, contributing to NATOs image as humanitarian organization. It doesnt change the fact, however, the NATO is primarily militarist organization that serves the interests of the West (its corporations in particular), and has important role in the establishment of new forms of colonialism within the globalization processes.

Furthermore, EADRCC is presented as organization that takes care about the environment, in spite of the fact that NATO forces bombarded the whole of Kosovo with depleted uranium ammunition and ordnance, which is known to cause prostate cancer and leukaemia. Moreover, even a number of NATOs soldiers fell ill, which contributed to naming the disease the Balkans syndrome.

The \'Peace Initaitive - Zadar\' gathers several NGOs and civic initiatives: Eco-Zadar and Zadar Vision of Urban Culture (ZVUK), anarchist group Direct Action and LGBTIQ group \'Queer Initiative\'.
