Stop Discrimination in Kosovo Campaign

The youth should be the vanguard in creation of better society free of discrimination in Kosovo, having in mind it makes up two thirds of Kosovo’s society, said Bardhi Bakija, Youth Coordinator of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Kosovo, at the start of “Stop Discrimination” street action.

Some 400 citizens of Prishtina supported the action and signed the Stop Discrimination petition, on May 25. During the action, activists of “My Initiative” movement talked to the citizens about various forms of discrimination in Kosovo and the fight of each individual against it.

“We believe the truth is more important than myth, people are more important than divisions along ethnic, racial, sexual and other lines. We want modern society in Kosovo in which the knowledge and values, not prejudice, will speak for us”, stated the message to the citizens.

This action is a part of a larger antidiscrimination campaign that will include street actions, parties and travelling exhibition of student works on the issue of discrimination. The campaign is conducted in cooperation with the Kosovo Ombudsperson and is supported by Freedom House programme for reconciliation of Kosovo communities and the USAID.
