Live Green
The Centre of Sustainable Community Development from Debar, in a partnership with Eko.Net from Skopje, initiated the implementation of the “Live Green” project. The project activities are supported by five municipalities: Centar-Skopje, Debar, Struga, Kicevo and Gostivar.
The Project aims to create positive changes in the behavioural patterns of citizens, institutions and investors in order to secure sustainable urban development and healthy environment.
The five public debates in the involved municipalities, on the topic of “Uncontrolled Urban Development, will discuss urbanization, urban planning, the issue of illegal construction and development and sustainable management of urban waste.
The project will use www.eko.net.mk portal to initiate an electronic forum and provide an opportunity to ask questions and communicated with the local self-government institutions. This, in turn, should initiate public participation in decision making processes on issues related to urban planning and environmental protection. On the other hand, the project should also increase the responsibility and accountability of institutions, their decision making procedures and implementation of urban planning legislation.
The project will be implemented over a period of 12 months, with financial support by Regional Environmental Centre, the SEKTOR Programme supported by Swedish SIDA.
