Support the Education Marathon Project

The Education Builds Bosnia and Herzegovina association invites you to support its Education Marathon project, to be implemented over the next several days. The projects includes a marathon race through the cities and towns in B&H, with the aim to stimulate individuals, companies, private sector and local authorities to take part in providing scholarships for children victims of war, disabled and gifted children.

The Association was established in 1994, as non-governmental, non-profit organization with the mission children victims of war – our lasting duty. It aims to secure the children victims of war, disabled and gifted children the moral and material assistance in their efforts to become productive members of society through quality education.

In the past 13 years of existence, it provided scholarships for 2,430 children, who received over 27,000 scholarships to a total worth of 1,900,000 KM. At the same time, about 2,430 children and youths were assisted to spend a summer vacation in B&H, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Turkey, Switzerland, Denmark, Canada and Uruguay.

Muhamed Durakovic, a child of Srebrenica, offered the Association to organize a marathon race, together with his Irish friend Brian Cregan, that would go from Bihac to Tuzla (passing through Vrtoce, Bosanski Petrovac, Mrkonjic Grad, Tuzla, Zenica, Kakanj, Visoko, Sarajevo, Srednje, Olovo, Kladanj, Đurđevik) in order toe stimulate private individuals, public enterprises, the private sector and the local authorities to take part in the effort to provide scholarships.

Durakovic and Cregan will arrive in Sarajevo today, June 29, and several events will be organized to introduce them to the B&H public. Also, an art auction will be organized to collect funds to provide schilarships for children victims of war, disabled and gifted children.

This project is supported by many public personalities, including prominent actors, music stars and cultural activities, on basis of voluntary engagement.
