Appeal to EU: Take Action on Youth Initiatives in the Balkans

The Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), OKC Banja Luka, South East European Youth Network (SEEYN) and OneWorld SEE are taking action to introduce relevant European institutions with the difficult position of Youth in SEE region caused by ignorance and passive attitude of our governments towards Youth issues.

The Relevant European institutions will be contacted through the Advocacy letter which we created (see the attachment to this article). The Letter provides condensed information about the situation of Youth in SEE region and discusses reasons why Youth finds itself in a difficult position. Furthermore, the Letter identifies concrete measures which could lead to empowerment of youth in our region.

Our aim is to lobby relevant European institutions to pay more attention to our countries in frame of the European integration process and to put special focus on improvement of youth conditions and their lives. We expect European institutions to put pressure on our governments to take more serious actions which will lead to improvement of youth position in SEE region.

We are asking all NGOs in SEE region to support our initiative which will be presented to the relevant European institutions in the next month.

If your NGO is interested to support this initiative, we are asking you to sign this letter and send it by fax, e-mail (scanned copy) or by post by July 6, 2007 using the following contact information:
