Zagreb City Youth Council Established

Last Thursday, June 28, the Constitutional Assembly of the Zagreb City Youth Council (ZYC) was held at the offices of the Centre for Human Rights. Organizations of the youth and for the youth, youth organizations of political parties and other forms of youth organizing took part in the Assembly.

The elected the Steering and Supervisory Boards and adopted the Statute of the Youth Council, the Book of Rules and Procedures and other decisions and documents necessary for proper functioning of the Council.

One of the priorities of ZYC will be to meet with the City authorities to discuss topics of interest to the youth (the election of new Head of Youth Bureau, the establishment of Youth Council and efficient implementation and supervision of the City Youth Action Programme). Another important task is to gather as many youth organizations around the Council, to secure it the legitimacy to represent the youth at City level.

The new members of the Steering Board are Roman Bastijan (“Zamisli” association), Anita Grubisic (Boy Scout School), Ana Marija Meniss (SDP Zagreb Youth Forum), Nikola Mokrovic (Multimedia Institute), Marko Perisa (HDZ Zagreb Youth Committee), Cvijeta Senta (Centre for Peace Studies) and Anamarija Soco (Volunteer Centre Zagreb). Zlatko Galesic (Association of Aviation Students), Vedrana Gujic (HNS Youth) and Luka Tomasegovic (Aegis Student Association) were elected to the Supervisory Board.

The Youth Council invites all youth association and other forms of youth organizing (initiatives, collectives, etc.) interested in the work of the Council to contact them at vijece.mladih.zagreba@gmail.com to set an appointment for a meeting.
