Anti Trafficking Office Opens in Debar

The office for prevention of trafficking of human beings opened yesterday in Debar, in presence of Government and foreign representatives.

“The Government of Macedonia, through its National Programme for Prevention of Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, adopted in 2005, establishes this Office aimed to strengthen its preventive activities”, said Elena Grozdanovska from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.

This is 15th such office opened by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Norway, OSCE and UNICEF.

“So far, there were no officially registered cases of trafficking in human beings in Debar, but the Centre monitors the situation constantly”, said Afrim Lela, the Centre Director.

In his view, the Debar Centre has well-trained personnel and greater capacity to implement preventive activities.
