Anti Trafficking Office Opens in Debar

The office for prevention of trafficking of human beings opened yesterday in Debar, in presence of Government and foreign representatives.

�The Government of Macedonia, through its National Programme for Prevention of Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration, adopted in 2005, establishes this Office aimed to strengthen its preventive activities�, said Elena Grozdanovska from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies.

This is 15th such office opened by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Norway, OSCE and UNICEF.

�So far, there were no officially registered cases of trafficking in human beings in Debar, but the Centre monitors the situation constantly�, said Afrim Lela, the Centre Director.

In his view, the Debar Centre has well-trained personnel and greater capacity to implement preventive activities.
