Open Volunteer Placement in Banja Luka

RIVER SEE, the Regional Integration through Volunteer Exchanges for Reconciliation of South Eastern Europe Programme looks for an enthusiastic person to volunteer for the YOUTH PARTNERSHIP MOVEMENT – PARTNERSKI OMLADINSKI PROGRAM from Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Partnerski Omladinski Program (POP) methodologically exists in combining a continuous Intercultural Exchange and Reconciliation Programme involving continuous (minimally two-monthly) singular exchanges, and half-yearly multiple exchanges, of youth from different entities within the former Yugoslavia through a network of grassroots youth self-organisations in Bosnia, Srpska, Croatia and Serbia, with a NGO Development and Counselling Service aimed at youth empowerment and structurally supporting the youth organisations involved.

More specifically the project aims at:

  • assisting young youth self-organisations in local staff and organisational development, and qualitatively and quantitatively strengthen young NGOs programme implementation and development
  • promoting intercultural and interethnic communication, cooperation and reconciliation by structuring continuous interaction and cooperation,
  • organisationally, morally and financially supporting rudimentary youth initiatives in becoming more structurally organised,
  • collecting, pooling and upgrading the various resources (material and immaterial) available in the network and its connected organisations, and making these available on demand to those in need of them,
  • supporting the deinstitutionalisation of youth care and a shift of emphasis from curative care to preventive action (drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, hooliganism),
  • opening up, developing, maintaining and upgrading means and vehicles of channelling youth’s energy, ideals and creativity towards non-abusive and positive ends, and as such provide alternatives to drug abuse and escapism, while establishing a rudimentary structure of drug-abuse prevention through open youth work.
  • connecting local grassroots youth NGOs from different entities to each other in a network that -internally and externally- disseminates a positive image of a reintegrated, multi-ethnic youth culture, and the dawning of a new generation and a new era, inspired by and for intercultural tolerance and respect.
  • promoting the spreading of volunteerism and support initiatives reaching out to others without seeking personal gain,
  • supporting youth and more general socio-cultural life in the underdeveloped rural areas, and establish connections between rural and urban youth and developments by reinvigorating socio-cultural life in the \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"intermediate\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" provincial towns.
  • supporting reintegration and development of youth culture by involving and combining both different ethnicities and youth subcultures in single local and international exchanges, enabling young bands and artists to connect outside of their own region or town, and both audience and NGOs involved to have a steady stream of positive, reintegrative and remunerating events and performances.
