CCI Report: B&H Governments Don’t Care for the Citizens

Governments in Bosnia and Herzegovina don’t care about the citizens, claims the Centre for Civic Initiatives (CCI) in its report on the work of national and entity legislative and executive power for the first half of the year.

CCI Report states that the Governments at different levels in B&H adopted just 3.3 percent of systemic measures that could help solve the burning issues for B&H citizens, proving they don’t care about the real problems of the citizens.

CCI also says that the Governments ignore the most important aspects of the Civic Platform, a document supported by 500,000 citizens who endorsed it. Of the total of 1,430 entries on the agendas of the B&H Council of Ministers, the entity Governments of the Federation and the Republic of Srpska, only 1.3 percent aimed at solving issues such as unemployment, poverty and minimal pensions.

\\\"For as long as the government is interested only in itself and internal relations and interests of its parties, disregarding its primary responsibility to take care of the interests of the citizens, we can’t really expect improved life in B&H and successful completion of reforms that will take the country towards European integrations”, says Ivica Cavar, the coordinator of CCI team for monitoring of the work of the parliaments.

He emphasized that, of the planned 67 laws, the two houses of the B&H Parliament adopted just seven, putting the efficiency rate of the Parliament at little above 10 percent. The B&H Federation Parliament has adopted just two of the 20 planned laws.

Besides obvious violations of procedural rules and regulations and the Law on Budgets, there are the “overly ambitious” plans of various governments, states the Report, since the Government don’t have a realistic chance to accomplish all the objectives they set for themselves.
