Improved Protection at the Workplace

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Care prepared the Rulebook on Methods and Procedure for Risk Assessment, the first regulation of its type in Montenegro. The Rulebook accepts all widely recognized methods.

It prescribes the manner and procedure of risk assessment in the workplace, with the appropriate preventive and risk reduction and elimination measures. The employer will be obligated to prepare a risk assessment overview for all jobs and positions in his or her company.

The risk assessment is conducted for all recognized dangers and harmful effects, through comparison with a list of acceptable values, in accordance with legislation on protection in the workplace.

The risk assessment includes definition of dangers, listing of risk prone jobs and positions, evaluation of risk levels and measures to overcome the risks. The Rulebook also includes a form with a list of factors and working conditions that are deemed not suitable for pregnant and nursing women.

The Law on Protection at the Workplace prescribes an obligation for the employers to assess the risks at every job and position by January 1, 2008.
