NGOs Seek Ban for Neo-Nazi Gathering

A group of Serbian nongovernmental organizations appealed to the authorities to ban the announced gathering of the neo-nazi organization “Nacionalni Stroj” (National Ranks), scheduled to take place on October 7 in Novi Sad.

\"We believe that the authorities are fully aware of the long-reaching negative consequences of the eventual legalization of neo-nazi rampage through the city of Novi Sad, especially if we know that the organizers are known to be proned towards violent acts”, say the NGOs in a joint statement.

The press release was signed by Women in Black, YUCOM – Human Rights Lawyers Committee, the Humanitarian Law Centre, the Centre for Cultural Decontamination, the Belgrade Circle, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights and the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights.

The NGOs asked “how was it possible to tolerate the actions of an organization that openly threatens the constitutional and legal order of Serbia”.
