Queer Square Skopje 2007

The Macedonian Association for Free Sexual Association – MASSO organizes the Queer Square Skopje 2007 inter-media festival in Skopje, October 2-6, 2007. The Festival will offer a series of visual arts events, panel discussions and a party in the center of Skopje.

The Festival aims to tear down the gender stereotypes and cultural isolation faced by LGBT persons in Macedonia and to put the spotlight on issues of equality.

MASSO hopes that the Festival will succeed to demonstrate the beauty and creativity of works by feminist and non-heterosexual artists.

The Festival also aims to encourage the local female and non-heterosexual artists to start cooperating among themselves, to lay down the cornerstones of the future local LGBTK and feminist culture and arts. At the same time, through the focus on topics of current relevancy for culture and society, they should be able to find their own place in contemporary European artistic tendencies.

Queer Square Skopje wants to use the power of arts and culture to influence the social and political life and decision making processes in Macedonia, and to promote mutual understanding and respect of diversity.
