EuroVelo to Include Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Board of Directors of the European Cyclists’ Federation approved the initiative to include Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EuroVelo Project for development and establishment of a network of cycling routes all over Europe.

The total length of European cycling roads is over 60,000 km, divided into 12 routes. EuroVelo aims to promote travelling by bicycle in the spirit of responsible tourism, and to promote and encourage local commute by bicycle.

Enough has been said about the advantages of bicycles over other means of transportation. A bicycle is fully environmentally friendly, doesn’t pollute, doesn’t create noise, does not take much space on the roads, improves the health of the cyclists, etc.

B&H, together with Bulgaria, was the only country that was not included in the plans for development of a network of cycling roads. Thanks to the efforts of Gren Tour NGO, the initiative was started to include B&H in the EuroVelo project, through preparation of the so-called Sava Cycling Route (Ljubljana-Belgrade), which would connect to the Danube and Adriatic routes.
