GONG and Transparency International Join Forces

GONG and Transparency International Croatia invite the political parties, independent lists and candidates from the national minorities to publicly released, by the start of Election Campaign on November 3, the amounts they intend to spend on their respective campaigns, as required by the Law.

They also demand public release of preliminary reports on amounts and sources of campaign funds, as well as lists of donors that contributed to the campaigns, withing the proper legal limits.

- Having in mind the rather inadequate legal solution of this matter offered by Croatian legislation, that would ensure transparency of campaign finances and bring Croatia closer to democratic practices in developed countries, say the two organizations.

An example for the financial reports forms is available on the websites www.transparency.hr and www.gong.hr.

Gong and TIC also invite the media, especially national broadcasters and newspapers, to publicly release the total revenue they collected on basis of campaign propaganda and advertising, per party, list or candidate.

GONG and TIC will monitor the costs and expenditures of political parties, lists and candidates running for office and will inform the public appropriately. The results and the methods used in the monitoring will be presented at a later date.
