BFPE Organizes Annual Conference of CoE Network of Schools

The Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) organized the annual conference of the Network of Political Studies Schools of the Council of Europe, November 2-4, in Belgrade, under the title The Reach and Challenges of Regional Cooperation.

Over 60 participants, alumni and alumnae of the CoE Network of Schools, from 15 countries, took part in the Conference. The opening remarks were given by Sonja Liht, BFPE President; Vuk Jeremic, Serbian Foreign Minister; Jean-Louis Laurent, Director General of CoE’s Political Directorate; and Kari Veijalainen, Finish Ambassador to Serbia.

The conference focused on the regions of Southeast Europe and the Black Sea, having in mind that the Network is actively present in both regions. The Conference was one of the last activities organized during Serbia’s term as presiding country of the CoE Council of Ministers, implemented with the support from the Finish Government and MFA.

The Schools for Political Studies, with the support from the CoE, are dedicated to educate future generations of leaders of political, economic, social and cultural life of the countries in transition. The alumni and alumnae include members of governments and parliaments in the countries of SEE and Black Sea regions, mayors, high-ranking public officials, members of the judiciary, businesspeople and journalists.
