Conference on Inclusive eGovernance Opens

The Inclusive eGovernance Conference, part of the Western Balkans Network for Inclusive eGovernance project, started today in Skopje.

The Conference, organized by Metamorphosis Foundation, aims to provide platform for exchange of experience and good practices and information about the development of inclusivity of government services available through the internet.

The Conference was opened by Goran Mančev, Advisor to the Minister of Information Society, Vladimir Milčin, Executive Director of Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia (FOSIM), and Marijan Gjušev, Member of Metamorphosis Board of Directors.

Mančev emphasized the dedication of the Governmetn to include all citizens in the decision making processes and to provide them access to services offered by public administration, and listed a number of past projects, such as providing computer for every child in Macedonia, the www.uslugi.gov.mk website, and the programme to distribute vauchers to the students to buy computers.

Milčin emphasized the importance of the conference in terms of inclusion of citizens in use of ICT, as a method to increase their influence on society they live in. He also pointed out that the conference is a true example of three-sector cooperation, with participation of Government, civil and business sector.

- ICTs are an important instrument for development of Macedonia as open society and will be useful to all citizens regardless of their location, social and ethnic background, abilities and personal beliefs, in order to increase their influence, said Milčin.

Marijan Gjušev emphasized that knowledge and skills are required to establish inclusive eGovernance. He also noted that eGovernment should primarily mean efficient Governance, which depends on use of good practices of other countries, like Austria, Bulgaria and Estonia.

The Conference is supported by FOSIM\\\'s East-East: Cross-Border Partnerships programme.
