ACIPS: SAA Initialling Didn’t Come Thanks to B&H Politicians, but to Stabilize the Region

The ACIPS (Alumni Centre of Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies) congratulates the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina the opening of the road to EU, but notes that the initialling of the Stabilization and Association Agreement did not come because of actions of B&H politicians. Rather, it is a part of the plan of the international community to stabilize the region.

- We believe this is an award for the citizens for the trauma they suffered in this latest artificially created crisis, having in mind that, according to the last EC Progress Report (November 2007), the B&H politicians did nothing to move forward towards EU integration, says a public statement by POLIS, ACIPS’ political council.

In the beginning of October, POLIS sent an appeal to the international community to stop punishing the stubborn politicians through the EU integration process, because then they punish just the common citizens.

ACIPS emphasizes that the initialling of the SAA doesn’t put an end to this turbulent period.

- The decision on the independent of Kosovo is expected in six days time, and the whole region is bound to pass through a lot of political turmoil. Fortunately, BIH will enter that situation somewhat closer to EU integrations than before, with obvious support by the European Union, adds the Alumni Centre.

ACIPS emphasizes that Bosnia and Herzegovina has finally reached a turning point on its road to EU and that the coming days are the true test of democratic and human maturity of the national political scene.
