CIVIL: Human Rights are Left Behind

On the occasion of December 10, the International Human Rights Day, CIVIL NGO organized a program of events in the Multimedia Center Mala Stanica, with the support by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, National Gallery of Macedonia, Art Café Mala Stanica, and Life Radio.

First, a screening of My First Shot, a documentary made by children and youth selected by Civil was held. The documentary presents the stories of young people’s experiences with small arms and armed violence. It is a co-production of Civil and Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC).

During the debate segment of the event, there were addresses by EU Ambassador to Macedonia, Erwan Fouere, and a discussion on the topic Human Rights – Ultimate responsibility, with participation of human rights activists, and representatives of local, national and international institutions and organizations.

On the occasion of the Human Rights Day, CIVIL issued a public call for dignity and justice, which concluded that, sixty years after the UN Universal Declaration on Human Rights, the human rights are left behind, with millions suffering from injustice and humiliation.

CIVIL called on all people to raise their voice in support of the struggle to bring dignity and justice to all human beings, now and with no delay.

- Parents, teachers, leaders, armies and police forces – all – must immediately act towards protection of human rights. All should decisively and strongly act against misuse of what human rights mean, says CIVIL in the Call.
