ZA Presents it Zero Waste Manual

The Zelena akcija environmental association presented its Zero waste manual. The manual aims to show that waste management is much wider than the simple matters of waste dumps and incinerators.

The manual presents a comprehensive, sustainable and modern approach to waste management based on maximum efforts directed at prevention, re-use and recycling of waste – i.e. composting prior to mechanical and bio treatment. The results achieved through such system are enough proof against incinerators, both in economic and environmental terms.

The name of the manual, Zero Waste is a concept and vision of measures designed for maximum reduction of quantities of waste. The concept has been officially adopted and applied by a number of cities around the world, and even whole countries, like New Zealand.

“The Manual offers a number of measures that need to be implemented by local self-government units in order to reduce the quantities and toxic levels of waste, in order to reduce its negative impact on the environment. It will be sent to the competent waste management authorities in all counties in Croatia”, Marijan Galović, the leader of ZA’s Bankwatch project.

The Manual is available for download (in Croatian) on Zelena Akcija website.
