The citizens expressed their huge discontent over the overall economic, social and even security situation in the municipality, brought on Novi Pazar by the current local administration led by Sulejman Ugljanin.
The security of the Municipal Building and some reporters of the Reagional Television, loyal to Ugljanin, tried to provoke an incident, but were stopped by the organizers and the Police.
The protests were held at the same time when the Municipal Assembly held a session to celebrate the status of a City recently awarded to Novi Pazar. Although the municipal authorities invited representatives of about 60 municipalities in Serbia, only a handful of them appeared.
