Balkan Fellowship for Journalistic Excellence

The Robert Bosch Foundation, the Erste Foundation and the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network BIRN announce the start of applications for the second year of scholarchips for journalists from the Balkans.

The initiative allows ten journalists from the region to win scholarships for their investigative stories. The Deadline for application expires on February 29, 2008, and all interested can apply through the fellowship.birn.eu.com portal.

Journalists from Albania, BiH, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Kosovo are invited to submit their proposals for investigative projects on this year’s topic – energy.

This year, ten candidates that offer best proposals will be selected. The programme secures 2,000 EUR honoraria for each journalist, and travel expenses to that amount. The best journalist will be selected at the end of the project and will be awarded with 8,000 EUR for professional improvement at a ceremony to be held in Vienna.

All stories created under the programme will be published in a special publication in the local languages, and in English and German.
