European Integrations in Serbia Get New Chance
|
The European Movement in Serbia (EMinS) expressed its satisfaction with the results of the second round of Presidential Elections, held last Sunday, and congratulated President Tadic on his second term in office that, EMinS believes, will end with Serbia in front of EU membership.
- The citizens of Serbia again proved to be the biggest protectors of democracy and European values in the country, presenting great maturity in another of a series of so-called turning points for the state - comments EMinS in its public statement, with the hope that the representatives of pro-European political elites will take the lead and follow their example to avoid repeat of such crisis in the future. The European Movement believes that their campaign Choose the President – Choose Europe, conducted together with the Women Government, its partners and network of local councils, helped to motivate the citizens to turn out at the ballot stations in huge numbers and to choose the road straight into the EU, not using rather suspicious by-passes. - Serbian integration processes get another chance to make it right. We have another chance to prepare the country, in the next five years, to enter the Union as a full member. We believe that the President, in accordance with his competences and the confidence entrusted by the citizens, won’t miss the chance, says EMinS. |
