Government Declares 2008 Tree Day Non-Working Day
The Government of Macedonian decided to make March 12, the Tree Day, a non-working day. This year, the Government will organize a public tree planting action Plant Your Future designed to renew the forests in the areas hit by huge forrest fires last year.
The action will take place in 57 locations in 30 municipalities in Macedonia, and it plans to plant over two million trees, provided by the Government.
A number of municipalities will join the action and they will be asked to provide transportation and refreshments for the participants. Over 200,000 citizens are expected to join the action on March 12.
The Government decided that the lost working hours will be compensated the following Saturday, March 15.
