Badges for Doctors who Refuse to Take Bribes

The Polio Plus Movement started a campaign against the corruption in healthcare sector, with distribution of I Don’t Take Bribes badges to uncorrupt doctors and distribution of leaflets and stickers with a Corruption-Free Area sign to hospitals and health institutions in Macedonia.

- Handicapped persons often face doctors who ask them for bribes. Moreover, they do it in such a normal and open way, as if nothing was wrong with it, says Zvonko Šavreski, Polio Plus President.

Šavrevski adds that the handicapped often enter a chain in corruption and are forced to pay several time for something that should be theirs for free.

The Cancer of the Health Sector aims to put an end to the corruption in healthcare system, so deeply rooted that even members of the janitorial staff were known to ask for money from handicapped persons seeking medical help.
