Public Debate on European Prospects for B&H Held in Pale
|
The third public debate on European prospects for Bosnia and Herzegovina was held yesterday at the School of Law in Pale, on initiative of EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak, with the goal to promote discussion on the topic of European future for BIH and citizens` inclusion in the process.
- As we know, at this moment the elitist, closed circles dominate the discourse on the process of European integrations, such as the ruling group of six or the experts gathered around Mr. Davidovic, Bojan Bajic from NGO Luna from Rudo said at the debate. He noted that experiences from other East European countries now in EU prove that citizens, media and civil society have to be very active in that process, that the debate has to be well argued and concrete to give the citizens possibility to use valid information for their decision if they want to enter EU or not. Bajic noted that the citizens were very active and interested in fulfilling the required conditions, for the sanctions against Pale to be removed. The youth in interested in greater student exchange, while people in wood processing industry demand a national strategy for that sector. In his view, if concrete topics are raised, the citizens are more likely to come forward with concrete demands. He emphasized that there were no incidents during the debate and that several threats prior to the event were successfully resolved by the Police. |
