In an open letter to the local authorities, OKC Abrašević reminds that their activities of the past six months are true appocalipse of urbanity in the city, selling of all that falls in their hands, turning the buildings and memories of the citizens of Mostar as common commodity.

- You change the face of the city for your hate it. You hate its soul and urban character. You hate the idea of a cosmopolitan city, its diversity and openness for you are used to living behind boundaries determined by your ethnicity, says Abrašević in the open letter.

OKC reminds the mayor that economic prosperity can’t be built at the expense of public space which are not for sale.

- That is our life, our memories, those spaces remind us of our past, and without it we can’t go into the future, adds OKC Abrašević.

Instead of investing in new education facilities, accuses the organiation, city authorities decided to turn the Third Elementary School into a City Council Building, in spite of the great need for new classroom space. Also, after renaming and implementing apartheid policies in the high school that once carried the name of great poet Aleksa Šantić, the City Council decided to rent its walls to a telecommunications company for its advertisement.

OKC Abrašević invites the City Elders and the Principal of Mostar High School to explain why, in spite of abundant donations and budget funds, they dediced to cover the building with advertisements, emphasizing that they won’t allow the sale of streets and buildings that are property of all citizens of Mostar.

OKC Abrašević invites the competent institutions to join a public debate on these issues and enter a dialogue with the citizens in order to hear their opinions and views on how should local authorities threat common public property.
