Call for Participation in Youth and Media Conference

The `Youth and Media` Conference (Tuzla, March 29-30, 2008) for improvement of status of youth in BiH through development of volunteering in local radio stations is connected to the strategic goals of youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina and relies on main directions for development of youth policies in the countries of the EU.

The Conference aims at further development of volunteer engagement in local radio stations and start of constructive dialogue to improve the status of youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Local radio stations are often the most open to respond to the needs presented by the youth and to establish cooperation with all interest groups that could lead to solutions of many local problems of the young population.

The Conference will offer an opportunity to review the work of four radion stations in BiH - Radio Vesta from Tuzla, Radio Magic from Milići, Radio Balkan from Banja Luka and Student Efm Radio from Sarajevo � that enabled development of similar programmes in 2007/08, launching debate on topics of special interest to the youth.

The broadcasters participated in Vesta Association`s project Strengthening Capacity of Local Radion Community, supported by Italian Foreign Ministry and CRIC NGO. The conference aims to identify good practices, available space for improved youth volunteering programmes in the media and, ultimately, result in a platform for future action.
