The Ministry of Interior (MUP KS) of the Canton of Sarajevo banned the protests of the informal group of citizens announced for April 6, in front of the National Theatre in Sarajevo, parallel with the celebration of the Day of the City in Sarajevo, which takes place at the Theatre, with expected presence of high national and international officials and guests.

According to MUP KS, the holding of the protest next to a protected building, at a time when the building is expected to hold a great number of VIPs that need special security attention, is an unacceptable risk from security point of view.
- Sarajevo Police Department informs the public that the area around the object will be under close control during and after the event, and that no public gathering and protests will be allowed at that period of time.
The Citizens of Sarajevo informal group, organizer of the protest rally against the local and cantonal authorities over the deteriorated security situation in the city, reacted (Full text of the reaction is attached to this article) to the ban and accused Cantonal PM Semir Silajdzic and Mayor Semiha Borovac of being prepared to use force, if necessary, to trample democratic processes in the city that they see as unwelcome in Sarajevo.
- We call on all the people who have had it with the irresponsibility, passivity, embezzlements and manipulations to take to the streets on April 6 and to join us in a peaceful and dignified protest that will prove that we are not an anarchist mob, but people who love their city more than any greedy politician, Građani/ke Sarajeva say in reaction to the ban.
